Join with Oxfam and help end global poverty, one gig at a time; Oxjam

What’s happening?

Poverty is a global issue. One person in three in the world lives in poverty. Oxfam is working towards a world in which poverty is abolished.

“Using a six-sided strategy to weave together the complex web of our efforts and joining with others, we seek to overcome poverty.” – Oxfam

Oxfam’s six-sided strategy is;

1] Helping people claim their basic human rights, to empower themselves to escape poverty.

2] Working with women and girls towards gender justice.

3] Disaster relief in emergency situations.

4] Lobbying for action on climate change.

5] Securing global food supplies so people don’t go hungry.

6] Helping people access basic services such as health and education.

Oxfam’s campaign; Oxjam

Oxjam is a month-long festival that you can be a part of, to help Oxfam end global poverty.

“Join thousands of other music lovers and music makers to either host your own gig, hit the stage or get your party on. Saving the world has never sounded so good.” – Oxfam

Oxjam has been running successfully in the UK for nine years, raising funds to address poverty around the world. This year, it had been brought to Australia. This month, you can be a part of hundreds of gigs to be held across Australia for a great cause – fighting global poverty.

“Teams of awesome gig-makers, big-hearted artists, and amazing venues are putting their hands up to do their bit. Madre Monte lead singer, Mauro Gomez says “We’re really proud to be part of OXJAM and encourage everyone to join the party, have fun, and make a positive change in the world” – Oxfam

Supporting Oxfam

The Wishing Well was established in 2010 to offer children in out-of-home care, such as foster care and residential care, a range of healing and treatment options usually not accessible as a free therapy in mainstream health.

The Wishing Well raises funds to enable children and young people to access developmentally-appropriate and trauma-informed treatments shown to be highly effective in dealing with severe trauma and neglect. These therapies respond to the unique needs of each child and young person.

The Wishing Well is a not-for-profit incorporated charity organisation, established and managed by people seeking to improve outcomes for children and young people in out-of-home care and their families. The Wishing Well recognises the importance of the act of giving. We recognise the significance of the participation of community members and all donations are most appreciated.

The Wishing Well operates ethically, effectively and empathically with a view to achieving quality outcomes and a satisfying working environment, and as such we support organisations that encompass similar ideals.

The Wishing Well gratefully receives donations, funding and resources through bequests, corporate partnerships, fundraising events, grants, online donations and other fund raising activities. Money donated to The Wishing Well enables traumatised children access to healing therapies. Please see our website for more information:
