Join with Oxfam to fund solutions, not pollution

What’s happening?

Over the weekend, hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets and marched for a cleaner, fairer world. And right now, world leaders are meeting in Paris to negotiate a new global climate deal. The people have spoken, and our message is clear. We want urgent action on climate change.

We all know that we must urgently cut our carbon pollution. But there’s another crucial element that often gets left out of the discussion. Climate change hurts people. And most often, the people who have done the least to contribute to climate change are the ones being hit hardest by its devastating impacts. Disasters like Tropical Cyclone Pam are the clearest possible call for urgent action on climate change.

Oxfam’s efforts

Families and farmers around the world are already working hard to adapt to the worst impacts of climate change. And they’re leapfrogging old and polluting forms of energy, through people-powered clean energy solutions. But they need our support.

Australia and other rich countries must support the poorest nations to invest in clean energy and cope with the brutal impacts of climate change.

Supporting Oxfam

The Wishing Well was established in 2010 to offer children in out-of-home care, such as foster care and residential care, a range of healing and treatment options usually not accessible as a free therapy in mainstream health.

The Wishing Well raises funds to enable children and young people to access developmentally-appropriate and trauma-informed treatments shown to be highly effective in dealing with severe trauma and neglect. These therapies respond to the unique needs of each child and young person.

The Wishing Well is a not-for-profit incorporated charity organisation, established and managed by people seeking to improve outcomes for children and young people in out-of-home care and their families. The Wishing Well recognises the importance of the act of giving. We recognise the significance of the participation of community members and all donations are most appreciated.

The Wishing Well operates ethically, effectively and empathically with a view to achieving quality outcomes and a satisfying working environment, and as such we support organisations that encompass similar ideals.

The Wishing Well gratefully receives donations, funding and resources through bequests, corporate partnerships, fundraising events, grants, online donations and other fund raising activities. Money donated to The Wishing Well enables traumatised children access to healing therapies. Please see our website for more information:

How you can help

Prime Minister Turnbull and Ministers Bishop, Ciobo and Hunt are attending the Paris climate summit. They heard the power of our voice over the weekend, but we need to send them a loud reminder. Send them a message now and make sure they know that Australians want a fair deal for those already being hit hard by the disastrous impacts of climate change.

Send your message now to Prime Minister Turnbull:

“Show the world that Australia can be a climate leader at #COP21. Stop funding the dirty polluters and start supporting smart climate solutions for those living on the frontline of climate change.”
