Join with Oxfam to call for action on climate change

What’s happening?

We’re witnessing climate inaction and we want change. In 2016 we have witnessed some forceful examples of climate change in action: Temperature records shattered; unprecedented bleaching of the reef; the devastation of Cyclone Winston; and the havoc wrought by a super-charged El Niño. Families and farmers around the world are being hit hard by the brutal impacts of climate change and our Pacific neighbours are on the front line.

Oxfam’s efforts

Last year in Paris, we reached a landmark global agreement for tackling climate change. And on 22 April, world leaders will be in New York to formally sign the Paris Agreement, but Australia is still failing the climate leadership test while our Pacific neighbours are displaying extraordinary leadership and driving real climate solutions. Australia has so much to gain by embracing a pollution-free, clean energy future. It’s time to stop being part of the problem and be part of the solution. As we head towards a Federal election, a clear majority of Australians want the Government to commit to stronger action on climate change. We can create a fairer world by cutting pollution and funding solutions for the people living on the frontline of climate change.

Supporting Oxfam

The Wishing Well was established in 2010 to offer children in out-of-home care, such as foster care and residential care, a range of healing and treatment options usually not accessible as a free therapy in mainstream health.

The Wishing Well raises funds to enable children and young people to access developmentally-appropriate and trauma-informed treatments shown to be highly effective in dealing with severe trauma and neglect. These therapies respond to the unique needs of each child and young person.

The Wishing Well is a not-for-profit incorporated charity organisation, established and managed by people seeking to improve outcomes for children and young people in out-of-home care and their families. The Wishing Well recognises the importance of the act of giving. We recognise the significance of the participation of community members and all donations are most appreciated.

The Wishing Well operates ethically, effectively and empathically with a view to achieving quality outcomes and a satisfying working environment, and as such we support organisations that encompass similar ideals.

The Wishing Well gratefully receives donations, funding and resources through bequests, corporate partnerships, fundraising events, grants, online donations and other fund raising activities. Money donated to The Wishing Well enables traumatised children access to healing therapies. Please see our website for more information:

How you can help

Get behind those on the frontline of climate change. Tell our leaders that you want change.

“Along with the majority of Australians, I want change. I will be voting for a party that can commit to working towards a cleaner, brighter future for all by:

  • 1- The rapid decarbonisation of the Australian economy
  • 2- A substantial increase in support to developing countries
  • 3- Finding solutions for our region’s most vulnerable communities.”
